Taxonomy:   Micro  >>  Tortricidae Other Name/s: Notch-wing Button ID Difficulty:  amber  - care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely - quality photographs required.
Confusion Species:  Acleris effractana
ID pointers: Fairly distinctive with a scalloped forewing indentation and the apex extending to a point. Variable. One form shows an obvious red line on otherwise brown ground colour.
Distribution:  Widely distributed wherever there is Sallow (Salix). Recently split into Acleris emargana and Acleris effractana which is more of a northern species.
