Confusion Species: Acleris effractana
ID pointers: Fairly distinctive with a scalloped forewing indentation and the apex extending to a point. Variable. One form shows an obvious red line on otherwise brown ground colour.
Distribution: Widely distributed wherever there is Sallow (Salix). Recently split into Acleris emargana and Acleris effractana which is more of a northern species.
Flight Period: July / August / September / - On the wing during July – September.
Moth Activity: Nocturnal Crepuscular - active from dusk into the night

Wingspan: 18-22mm
Food Plant: Sallow (Salix), Poplar (Populus) and Birch (Betula).
