Confusion Species: Zelotherses paleana (Timothy Tortrix)
Distribution:  (Last record: 17/03/2025 at Dovedale )  -  It is exceedingly difficult to distinguish this species from Zelotherses paleana (Timothy Tortrix). Over the years a number of experienced lepidopterists have claimed to have recorded this species, especially from Dovedale. The literature states, however, that the larvae of both species feed on the same plants in the same habitat and the moths fly together. Harrison & Sterling were not convinced in 1986, that there were two species in Derbyshire. DaNES have this species on the county list and there are records by Jon Clifton 12/6/2010 from Biggin Dale and from D.Grundy 25/7/2010 from Dovedale. Both these records refer to individuals taken at MV Light.
