ID Difficulty:  Red – difficult to identify – detailed examination required, often a Gen Det and/or specimen and quality photographs are required.
Confusion Species: Coleophora ibipennella; Coleophora kuehnella
ID pointers: There is a plain white form as well as a yellowish streaked form – A tiny moth with the head, thorax and forewings predominantly white. The antennae are ringed with pale brown and feature a distinct tuft at the base.

General Comment: The larvae are case-bearers, building a highly distinctive movable protective case out of silk, The case is black and resembles a tiny pistol
