ID Difficulty: - easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: A fairly easy and variable coloured moth to identify. A distinctive cross-band through the central forewing bordered by two cross-lines, the basal being angled diagonally and the outer being wavy. Nondescript oval and kidney marks.
Distribution: A resident that is common and widely distributed in Derbyshire. Found in all woodland localities throughout the county, particularly in lowland areas.
Flight Period: July / August / September / - On the wing July – September.
Moth Activity: Nocturnal - is attracted to light and sugar
