ID Difficulty: - easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: A fairly distinctive looking small black and white moth. A prominent white central cross band that meets the trailing edge of the wing, bordered either side with marbled blackish-grey bands.
Distribution: First recorded in Derbyshire in 1985. Despite few records during 1990’s, it was described in 2007 as being common and wide spread in the county.
Flight Period: June / July / - On the wing June – July
Moth Activity: Nocturnal - occasionally attracted to light

Food Plant: Sweet William (Dianthus barbatus).
