Taxonomy:   Macro  >> . >>  Noctuidae ID Difficulty:  green  - easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: Small in size compared to the other underwing species. The ground colour is an orange-reddish brown. There is a wavy cross-line through the central area of forewing and several paler lines towards the base of the wing. The hind wing is a mustard yellow and there is a broad black band that has  a central blackish streak and a streak that borders both the trailing and leading edge. There may also be a small crescent mark in the hind wing.
Distribution:  (Last record: 16/08/2024 at Buxton )  -  A resident species that is uncommon and locally distributed in Derbyshire. Small numbers are recorded each year from across the county.
