Taxonomy:   Macro   >>  Notodontidae  >> Notodontinae
ID Difficulty:  amber  – care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely – quality photographs required.
ID pointers: A thick-set and heavy looking moth that is an overall grey-brown in colour. An obvious comma mark in the pale creamy white central cross band on forewing.
Distribution:  A resident species that is generally uncommon but widely distributed in Derbyshire. Found more often in ancient woodlands throughout the lowland areas of the county.
