ID Difficulty:
- easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: Tiny but distinctive with a golden brassy and white forewing and a white head. Two white cross bands and a Y shaped golden brassy band is distinctive.
Distribution: This little moth is common throughout the county on birch. Widespread across the county.
Flight Period: July / August / September / - On the wing in July – September. Flying at night and on sunny afternoons.
Moth Activity: Cathemeral - and is attracted to light
