Taxonomy:   Macro  >>  Geometridae ID Difficulty:  green  - easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: A reasonably easy moth to identify. Being greyish-brown with attractive orange-brown wavy cross-lines and a broader outer cross-band across both fore and hind wings. The melanic form is dark brownish-grey with an orange-brown cross-band.
Distribution:  Widely distributed and locally, fairly uncommon in Derbyshire. In recent years has become more common due to the establishment of coniferous forest. Present in all areas of the county. There is an attractive melanic form, nigrofulvata, which represents 50% of the population and is found particularly in the north of the county.
