ID Difficulty: - easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: A silver-grey to greyish-white species with a darker grey broken cross-band. There are three distinct dark grey patches on the forewing which eliminate other carpets that are similar.
Distribution: A resident species, common and widely distributed throughout Derbyshire. Sometimes found in large numbers and often seen on the wing during the day.
Flight Period: May / June / July / August / September / - On the wing between May – September.
Moth Activity: Nocturnal Crepuscular - often found inside houses in the morning.

Forewing: 13-16mm
Food Plant: Cruciferae, including Garlic Mustard, Shepherd’s-purse, Hairy Bitter-cress and Cabbage.
