ID Difficulty:
- easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: A distinctive species with upturned wingtips, which are characteristic of this group. A characteristic are the three pairs of raised tufts of scales clearly visible when the moth is at rest. Forewing chestnut brown and with a contrasting pale brownish yellow band.
Distribution: Widespread throughout the county where there is Apple & Hawthorn.
Flight Period: July / August / - On the wing July – August
Moth Activity: Nocturnal - and is attracted to light
