ID Difficulty: - easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: A distinctive moth, pale orange or sandy-brown with three cross-lines. The middle one broader and darker with central shading on the hind wing. Four central spots one on each fore & hind wing. The wing tips are pointed and there is a fine crimson fringe line to the fore & hind wings.
Distribution: Resident in Derbyshire, widespread but generally local. Where it does exist it is fairly common. May be absent from the north of the county.
Flight Period: July / August / - On the wing – July – August.
