ID Difficulty: - easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: The moth gets its name from the “Arch-Like” markings visible at rest in the central area of the forewing. MGBI describes this moth as having a “Flint-Like” appearance.
Distribution: A resident and widely distributed but locally common particularly in south-east Derbyshire. Scarce in the north of the county.
Flight Period: June / July / August / - On the wing – June -August. One generation
Moth Activity: Nocturnal - and is attracted to light
