Taxonomy:   Micro  >>  Yponomeutidae Other Name/s: Hawthorn Ermine, ID Difficulty:  amber  - care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely - quality photographs required.
Confusion Species:  Swammerdamia caesiella – Poorly marked / worn examples require Gen. Det.
ID pointers: A white head with a grey thorax. Forewing grey with darker speckling with a row of fine blackish dots on the costa near the base of wing. The darker markings on the forewings can form blotches towards the apex and slight cross-band about half way.Poorly marked or worn individuals need to be Grade 4.
Distribution:  (Last record: 12/07/2024 at Ilkeston )  -  Uncertain / Unknown, what few records there are are widespread, so should be reasonably well distributed on Hawthorn (Crataegus) and Rowan (Sorbus aucuparia).
