Taxonomy:   Micro  >>  Yponomeutidae ID Difficulty:  Red - difficult to identify - detailed examination required, often a Gen Det and/or specimen and quality photographs are required.
Confusion Species: Orchard Ermine (Yponomeuta padella), Apple Ermine (Yponomeuta malinellus), Spindle Ermine (Yponomeuta cagnagella)
ID pointers: Difficult to ID as are the majority of the yponomeuta group, but longer and more narrow winged, with two toned white and grey forewings with black dots which are smaller in size than other yponomeuta. Mostly white in the dorsal half and in a thin line along the costa with a small white blotch along the costa near the apex which is contrasting against the grey rear third.
Distribution:  (Last record: 06/09/2024 at Long Eaton )  -  Not listed in Harrison & Sterling (1988) – Most probably a local species, and occasional migrant found where there is White Willow Salix alba and Grey Willow (S.cinerea) A huge migrant influx occurred in 2023
