ID pointers: The forewings are a golden brown with striking white markings. A “Tufted” head. A beautifully marked and tiny moth
Distribution: Common across most of the British Isles. Derbyshire status, appears to be well spread where the food plant exists. Most records refer to leaf mines
Flight Period: May / August / - FLIGHT PERIOD – May & August
Mine Period: July / September / October / - Recognisable as a silvery blotch on the upper-side of the leaf, usually over veins. Later, the mines contract which causes the leaf to fold upwards. Numerous mines can be located on each leaf. Found on Corylus (Hazel)
