Confusion Species: Caloptilia robustella (Shaded Oak Stilt)
ID pointers: The forewing is orange-brown or orange-yellow or brown-yellow in colour with an obvious yellow triangular patch in the centre of the costa extending towards the dorsum, giving the moth a distinctive appearance. Hence the old name of Yellow-triangle Slender. The adult moth cannot be told apart form C.robustella without examination of the pupa or breeding out.
Distribution:  (Last record: 2015 at Ripley )  -  Uncertain/Unknown due to lack of qualified records. Due to the recently separated C.robustella, the two are difficult to tell apart
Records exist from 1973 Shipley Park and West Hallam; 6/8/2015 Ripley – three recent records are aggregated.
Flight Period: May /  June /  July /  -  Possible two generations between May – July Mine Period: July /  August /  September /  October /   - The larvae mine the leaf first of all in a narrow gallery, that leads to a triangular or square blotch.
