Garden Trap number 7 and a disappointment. Conditions were perfect on the evening of the 12th but overnight temperature dropped and then heavy rain set in. Result was basically a trap full of “Underwings”. Trap results in no particular order – Large Yellow Underwing 27; Lesser Yellow Underwing 5; Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing 1 female; Brimstone Moth 3; Garden Carpet 1; Willow Beauty 1; Square-spot Rustic 2; Brown-spot Pinion 1; Epiphyas postvittana 3; Eudonia angustea 1:
Brown-spot Pinion – Tony Davsion© – A classic autumn moth
Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing – female slightly worn – Tony Davison© – Typically turns up in small numbers during August-September
Large Yellow Underwing – Tony Davison© – Probably a male due to colour and marbling – around 300 trapped in my garden so far this season
Lesser Yellow Underwing – Tony Davison©
