Update May 2025 – The website now has maps, charts and moth record data for all macro and micro species that have been recorded in VC57 and Derbyshire. They are located on each species page. Above each map there are three TABS – The Charts are behind the CHART TAB, and a sensible limit of individual records are listed behind the OTHER TAB – Click on each TAB accordingly to access the data behind it.
Bottom left of each Map is a table which will show the records. Click on each box to see records 2020 and later / Before 2020/ Bedrock Geology/ 2km Tetrads and Moth Distribution. Each element can be overlayed. There is also a Blue “Tap for Help” button.
The records to support the maps and charts have come from iRecord, DaNES, Butterfly Conservation, Old Journals and other official publications.
iRecord is now the prime source of “new Derbyshire moth records” and every effort has been made to collect and collate every record as possible, but some are either just not available, or reliable enough to count as a valid piece of data. So if you want to see your own records appearing on the moth maps, it is important to get your moth records onto the iRecord platform, which is now the preferred and approved method of recording Derbyshire’s moths.
Hi Tony
Thanks for fantastic monthly reports.
I’ve only recently caught up with all on the Derbyshire website as being on the Cheshire border I have been checking things out locally there too when I get something less common.
Sorry about not putting exact date in for Dwarf Pug which was 6 May.
I’ve been putting my records on NMRS butterfly conservation site.
Would you recommend putting directly on to I record or doesn’t it matter?
Hi David. Thanks for getting in touch and thanks for the kind words and support. IMO I don’t think it makes any difference whether you post through NMRS or `irecord but not both as records then would get duplicated. Hope that helps
The most import thing is that you are posting in your records so thanks for that.

Tony
