ID Difficulty:  amber  – care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely – quality photographs required.
ID pointers: One of the easiest Eriocrania species to identify. The forewings are typically metallic purple with a conspicuous silvery-white tornal spot, which distinguishes it from similar species that usually have golden spots.

Mine Comment: The larvae create a Blotch Mine commencing at the leaf edge. The mine contains characteristic “spaghetti-like” frass in long, tangled threads. The larvae have a dark brown or black head and two dark spots on the first thoracic segment.
