Taxonomy:   Macro  >>.  >>  Erebidae  >> Boletobiinae
ID Difficulty:  green  – easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: Looks like a geometrid species. A charcoal blackish-grey ground colour and creamy white spotting with weaker cross-lines are fairly diagnostic.
Distribution:  (First record: 1955 at Ramcroft Colliery, Heath )  –  (Last record: 18 July 2019 at Darley Dale )  –  The status of this moth in Derbyshire is uncertain and possibly accidentally introduced. The species has been recorded on several consecutive years from a site in Darley Dale, near Matlock, close to a timber yard. There seems to be no other records in recent times, apart from 1955 and 1959 both from Ramcroft Colliery, Heath. A record from Ripley on 12/8/2012 (near a timber yard) and one new record from Long Eaton 2/7/2018. Last record from Darley Dale 18/7/2019. (photographed on iRecord).
