Green –  Rare / Uncommon / Scarce
Taxonomy:   Micro   >>  Gelechiidae  >> Anacampsinae
Other Name/s: Acer Sober
ID Difficulty:  amber  – care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely – quality photographs required.
Confusion Species:  Anarsia lineatella
ID pointers: The long black streak in the centre of the forewing is said to be diagnostic of innoxiella, supported by the more contrasting pattern overall. Forewing is greyish with whitish marks and lines. A. lineatella has a less-contrasting, duller pattern and the central black streak is shorter and more elliptical.
Distribution:  (First record: 17 June 2022 at Sandiacre )  –  (Last record: 30 July 2024 at Sandiacre )  –  This species was recognised as new to science in 2017, and it is thought that most specimens of previously-identified A. lineatella that have been light-trapped are likely to be innoxiella. Unknown in the county until the first record for VC57 & Derbyshire recorded from Sandiacre on 17/6/2022 by Marion Bryce. There now appears to be a small localised colony in the triangle of Long Eaton, Breaston and Sandiacre area of SE Derbyshire. Seems to be spreading in the county.

Bedrock Geology ** indirectly affects moth distribution by influencing the type of habitat and food plants available in an area. In turn, this may affect the types of moths that can thrive, or where they can most likely be found.
