ID Difficulty:  amber  – care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely – quality photographs required.
Confusion Species:  Scrobipalpa costella
ID pointers: A flat looking moth with elongate forewing pale greyish, mottled darker with a blackish almost triangular shape blotch on the costa half-way along leading edge of forewing.
Distribution:  (Last record: 17 August 2025 at Cromford )  –  Status unknown in the county. Very few Derbyshire records of a common moth throughout Britain. Latest record 17/8/2025 from Cromford
