ID Difficulty:  amber  – care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely – quality photographs required.
Confusion Species:  Gypsonoma dealbana
ID pointers: Has a distinctive black triangle on the lower edge of each forewing. When the wings come together at rest they form a diamond shape. Forewing white sometimes tinged yellowish brown with a well defined dark brown or blackish basal patch. A dark patch along the costa at about a half. A reddish brown apical spot.
Distribution:  A locally common and widespread species on sallow or poplar.
