ID pointers:

Variable – Forewing is subtle mix of metallic grey and chestnut markings. A relatively “V” shaped species at rest. The dorsal blotch is triangular in shape. Pale fringes to inner wing tip. Dichrorampha can be very tricky to identify and in many cases, really detailed photos are required to determine subtleties in the terminal cilia such as if apical and sub-basal lines are more difuse or demarcated. Fresh individuals of D. acuminatana show shining grey cilia and a more defined white  band at the wing apex. On a side-on-view the tapering aspect to the wing can clearly be seen.

Distribution:  (First record: 12 May 2014 )  –  (Last record: 2 May 2025 at Kirk Hallam )  –  The first record for Derbyshire was recorded on 12th May 2014 at Duffield. It occurs fairly commonly throughout most of the British Isles. Status in the county currently unknown but suspected common amongst Ox-eye Daisy. Less than 10 records received during 2025.

Bedrock Geology ** indirectly affects moth distribution by influencing the type of habitat and food plants available in an area. In turn, this may affect the types of moths that can thrive, or where they can most likely be found.
