Taxonomy:   Macro  >>  Noctuidae ID Difficulty:  green  - easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: The forewing is grey and tinged with lilac and brow. There are two yellowish-white “8” shaped symbols which are diagnostic. The outer shape can be more variable.
Distribution:  (Last record: 07/10/2023 at Chaddesden, Derby )  -  A late flying moth that is widely distributed, but generally uncommon common. Main stronghold is in the eastern side of Derbyshire, and virtually absent from the uplands. Not been recorded from the Peak Grit.

Food Plant: Hawthorn (Crataegus), blackthorn (Prunus spinosa) and apple (Malus).
