Taxonomy:   Micro  >>  Pyralidae Other Name/s: Grey Knot-horn, Trachycera advenella, Numonia advenella ID Difficulty:  green  - easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: Forewing silvery grey shaded reddish brown to purplish-brown or blackish brown. The basal area usually darker than rest of wing. An oblique cross-line at about a third and a fine silvery grey line, both enclosing a wedge of coppery red and black. Two black dots in the central forewing are offset with the tornus.
Distribution:  Unknown – Not listed in Harrison & Sterling (1988). Assume now to be fairly widespread and common as the species has expanded its range. Found on uncut Hawthorn.
