Taxonomy:   Micro  >>  Tortricidae Other Name/s: Common Cloaked Shoot ID Difficulty:  amber  - care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely - quality photographs required.
Confusion Species:  Gypsonoma sociana
ID pointers: Can be told from other gypsonoma species by the creamy white patch on front of head. Two thirds of forewing is white with basal third dark brown or greyish-brown. Bluish-grey markings towards the rear end of the wings and a small black streak near the middle of the wing at about two thirds. A small orangey-brown triangular spot at wing tip.
Distribution:  Common and widespread across the county. Feeds on a variety of trees.
