ID Difficulty:  amber  – care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely – quality photographs required.
Confusion Species:  C. implicitana; C. heydeniana; Gynnidomorpha permixtana
ID pointers: A very characteristic broad forewing with rounded apex. The forewing colour is a yellowish-white or cream base, heavily marked witha broad, dark-brown median band (fascia) and distinct markings near the tips. Hind-wings are distinctly pale brown. 
Distribution:  (First record: 17 June 2026 at Cromford Canal )  –  (Last record: 17 June 2026 at Cromford Canal )  –  Wide ranging across much of England and South Wales, being found in a wide-range of habitats. A first record for VC57 Derbyshire when on was found at Cromford Canal on 17/6/2026. Reported to iRecord where it has been verified and accepted. The moth was photographed by the recorder.
