Taxonomy:   Micro  >>  Tortricidae Other Name/s: Grey Birch Button ID Difficulty:  amber  - care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely - quality photographs required.
ID pointers: A fairly distinctive species. The forewing colour is a powdered white or greyish-white, variably speckled with small blackish scale tufts and pale creamy brown diagonal cross-lines. One form has two blackish triangular-like patches on the costa.
Distribution:  (First record: 03/11/2023 at Glossop, Long Clough )  -  (Last record: 25/11/2024 at Long Clough )  -  These are the first accepted and confirmed records for VC57. A species which only reached Yorkshire in 2010. The first was recorded at Long Clough, Glossop on 3rd November 2023 and the second was from Wildboar Clough, Longdendale on 16th November 2023. A further sspecimen was taken at Long Clough on 25/11/2024 with all three records by Christian Heintzen. Status in Derbyshire is unknown but obviously a small population exists in the Glossop area of the county.
