ID Difficulty:  amber  – care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely – quality photographs required.
Confusion Species:  Cnephasia stephensiana (Common Grey Tortrix); Cnephasia asseclana (Flax Tortrix)
ID pointers: None of the potential Cnephasia confusion species have this shape of antemedian facia and orange-brown colouration. Forewing is a light grey, lightly speckled darker grey and the curved dark bands at the base of the forewing are distinctive. The orangey brown markings are variably edged black.
