Taxonomy:   Micro  >>  Nepticulidae Other Name/s: Virgin Pigmy ID Difficulty:  amber  - care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely - quality photographs required.
ID pointers: The mines are distinctive on the leaves of Aspen forming a triangular blotch extending from the midrib. When the leaves change colour in autumn, the mined area often remains showing the effect of a ‘green island’ even after the leaves have fallen.
Distribution:  (Last record: 30/10/2024 at Grange Wood )  -  Locally distributed throughout mainland Britainn on Aspen (Poplulus tremula). Derbyshire status unknown as insufficient data, but likely to be well established where there is Aspen.
