Taxonomy:   Micro  >>  Nepticulidae Other Name/s: Greenish Thorn Pigmy ID Difficulty:  Red - difficult to identify - detailed examination required, often a Gen Det and/or specimen and quality photographs are required.
ID pointers: The larvae mine the leaves of hawthorn, forming a blotch with irregular black frass. Usually on leaf edge. In the adult the head is black in the male, between orange and black in the female. The forewing has a greenish golden metallic lustre with silver fascia.
Distribution:  (Last record: 03/10/2024 at Belper )  -  National Status – Widespread and common throughout the British Isles. A lack of records and data make the Derbyshire status unknown. Likelt to be common where there is Hawthorn.
