Taxonomy:   Macro  >>  Noctuidae ID Difficulty:  green  - easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: The forewing is quiet broad and in the most common form – arundineta, the straw-brown base colour with grey vertical streak leading into a cross-band along the outer wing edge is diagnostic. The nominate form dissoluta is a plain grey-brown with a prominent dark kidney mark outlined in white.
Distribution:  (Last record: 26/08/2024 at Markham Vale Complex )  -  A resident that is uncommon and locally distributed in Derbyshire. A reed bed species being a relict from the fenlands still surviving at a local level in the south-east of the county at wetland habitat in the Trent Valley. Now being reported from an increasing number of sites, restricted to the south of the county.
