Taxonomy:   Macro  >>  Noctuidae ID Difficulty:  green  - easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: An intense reddish-brown or dark brown brindled patterning is distinctive. The central area of the forewing being darker and forming a cross-band. The oval and kidney mark are heavily outlined dark brown.There are two “tornal” streaks at the basal area of the forewing and another streak near the trailing edge of the wing. Hind wing is a greyish-brown.
Distribution:  (Last record: 02/07/2024 at Cromford )  -  A resident that is uncommon and locally distributed in Derbyshire. It is a lowland species and is only sporadically recorded and most records come from areas that are adjacent too wooded Parkland and wooded Valleys. It has been recorded in the north of the county.
