Taxonomy:   Macro  >>  Noctuidae ID Difficulty:  green  - easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: A rather stout and furry moth with forewing being greenish brown dusted and marked with dull yellow and grey. Can be variable in size and forewing tone.
Distribution:  (Last record: 2024 )  -  A resident that appears to be rather scarce, or under-recorded perhaps, in suitable habitats, where the principle food plant Hogweed (Heracleum sphondylium) flourishes but it is locally distributed in Derbyshire. The main population is found in the Carboniferous Limestone areas of central west Derbyshire, extending into the central grit and extremities of the coal measure areas in the east. Seems to be absent from the south of the county. Very few reports/records.
