Taxonomy:   Macro  >>  Noctuidae ID Difficulty:  green  - easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: There is an obvious pale straw coloured patch which breaks into a black oblong which is diagnostic. This mark is supposedly to represent a character from the Hebrew alphabet. There is a straw coloured collar and the forewing ground colour is a greyish, reddish brown with a darker band across the outer-edge of the wing.
Distribution:  A resident species that is widely distributed and locally common throughout Derbyshire. Generally common in the lowland areas of the county but much less so in the north.
