Taxonomy:   Macro  >>  Sphingidae ID Difficulty:  green  - easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: Looks like a small hummingbird as it flits and hovers, feeding from flower to flower. The hind-wings are bright orange.
Distribution:  An uncommon immigrant to Derbyshire. Recorded most years in small numbers.  Rarely more than two or three recorded a year, but in recent years records have increased.
