Taxonomy:   Macro  >>  Geometridae ID Difficulty:  green  - easy to identify, generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species.
ID pointers: One consistent feature that is diagnostic and visible in all but the darkest or palest forms is the dark cross-line beyond the centre of the forewing, which is solid smooth and wavy, with a distinctive large crescent like curve in leading half. Also a strongly scalloped hind-wing fringe. 
Distribution:  Resident, fairly common locally and widely distributed throughout Derbyshire. Largest populations found in the southern lowlands of the county. Melanic forms can be dominant in populations.
