Taxonomy:   Micro  >>  Tineidae Other Name/s: Felt Clothes Moth ID Difficulty:  Red - difficult to identify - detailed examination required, often a Gen Det and/or specimen and quality photographs are required.
ID pointers: A relatively plain and nondescript dark brown looking forewing that shows a narrow and pale buff-yellow line along the costs edge. Also the species generally shows a yellowish tuft of scales on the head. There can be a pale greyish-white spot on the forewing but often the forewing looks entirely plain.
Distribution:  (Last record: 1963 ( Harrison & Sterling 1988) at Clay Cross )  -  Nationally Scarce B – Despite a widespread distribution over much of Britain the species is uncommon. Status in the recording area is unknown as only two records from 1962 & 1963 – Clay Cross. A coastal species so quite an unusual account of this species.
