Other Name/s: Gold-sheen Clothes Moth
ID Difficulty:  amber  – care required in the identification process, as confusion with similar species is likely – quality photographs required.
Confusion Species:  Nemapogon cloacella
ID pointers: A buff ground colour with dark angular markings positioned centrally and that are always bold in this species. Also typically shows a noticeable pale, reddish-brown subapical area and an orangey head.
Distribution:  (First record: 23 June 2026 at Norton Lees )  –  (Last record: 23 June 2026 at Norton Lees )  –  A new species to VC57 Derbyshire when an adult was attracted to the VES Lure at a Norton Lees garden. The recorder was using the lure to attracted Yellow-legged Clearwing.
