Taxonomy:   Micro  >>  Nepticulidae Other Name/s: Lime Pigmy ID Difficulty:  Red - difficult to identify - detailed examination required, often a Gen Det and/or specimen and quality photographs are required.
ID pointers: A Leaf-miner -The egg is found on the underside of the leaf. The initial part of the mine is contorted and the larvae (shown in the second photo) is yellow with a pale brown head. The gut line is green. Found on Tilia (Lime) mainly Tilia cordata (Small-leaved Lime) – Adult is like most other stigmella being plain dark bronzy brown fore-wings, a white collar and eye-caps.
Distribution:  National Status – Locally through England and Wales – Derbyshire status unknown insufficient records but likely to be well spread in appropriate habitat
