ID pointers: When the moth is fresh there is a diagnostic purplish-pink marbling to the forewing. The oval and kidney mark are prominently outlined in white linking together and forming a characteristic semi-circular shape. This feature is a good indicator for separating from similar Lychnis. The purple colouration fades quickly with age. The outer cross line is white and zig-zagged throughout, turning to finish near the leading edge. On similar Lychnis the line is different.
Distribution:  A resident that is wide spread but not common in Derbyshire. Present in small numbers across all areas but usually higher numbers in the south and east of the county.
